Sorcha Millen is a Belfast-based freelance Consultant in the Offshore Wind Sector.
With experience in the industry dating back to 2013 – her internship on the first project executed from Belfast Harbour, Sorcha has worked for Offshore Wind Marine Contractors such as Boskalis, VBMS and Van Oord, and with High Voltage supply chain contractor EDS HV Services. Working mainly in Marshalling Harbours and Company Headquarters.
Regions where Sorcha has worked include, Baltic (Sassnitz Mukran), East and West Coast of England, Scotland, the Netherlands, France (Cherbourg) and remotely for a Belgian project.
Originally from a technical background in Architecture, educated in Construction and Renewable Energy, Sorcha has made ample use of her transferable skills and is consistently learning and drawing from her experiences.
Projects
The diverse roles that Sorcha has undertaken include:
- Project Engineer and Site Supervisor on jacket and Pin Pile T&I;
- Site Manager & Co-ordinator for cable installation and repair projects;
- Reporting Engineer on Jacket (suction bucket) installation project;
- Superintendent on export cable installation, grout logistics, site set up and logistics – secondary steel for monopile foundations;
- More recently she was the Standardisation Programme Lead in the Cable Unit Department for a leading Marine Contractor – driving process improvements, implementing best practices – leading to enhanced efficiency and streamlined operations.
