At midnight on April 11, 2024, Northern Ireland launched the Northern Ireland Maritime & Offshore network (NIMO), backed by Invest NI. NIMO aims to boost job creation, regional balance, and carbon emission reduction in the maritime sector. Key members include Artemis Technologies and Belfast Harbour, signaling growth in the industry.

Simply Blue Group Diversifies into Sustainable Fuels Projects

Simply Blue Group, a leading global offshore wind project developer, is developing onshore renewable energy parks to power facilities capable of producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The projects, in Canada, Ireland and Australia will process more than 1.5 million tonnes of sustainable biomass annually to produce over 300,000 tonnes of SAF each year. The company currently has a pipeline of fixed bottom (c. 4GW) and floating wind projects (c. 10GW) globally and has been recognized as a pioneer of floating offshore wind.

Ridgeway secures deal with French offshore wind farm

Belfast-based Ridgeway, through its European distribution partners, has secured a contract with its first French client to use Kyowa Filter Units, known as Rockbags® in the UK and Europe. Saint Nazaire is a 480MW offshore wind farm being developed in the Loire-Atlantique region of France and it is owned by EDF Renewables and EIH S.à r.l. (Enbridge Inc. et CPP Investments). It will deploy the sustainable Rockbags® for protecting and stabilising sections of the cable.
